Youth Boatbuilding Internship

CWB’s Youth Boatbuilding Internship is supported in part by the William E. Wockner Foundation.

The Center for Wooden Boats partners with local schools and the Youth Maritime Collaborative to introduce young people to maritime careers through an ongoing Youth Boatbuilding Internship. This program strives to provide youth ages 16 - 24, especially from communities traditionally underrepresented in maritime, with the opportunity to work with a professional boatwright to learn carpentry basics as it relates to boatbuilding.

Our school year program allows a small group of students to work on a boatbuilding project 1 day a week thoughout the school year, while the summer session is a 1-month, 5-days-a-week summer internship administered through the Seattle Public Schools’ LAUNCH206 and Seattle Goodwill programs. You can read more about the LAUNCH206 initiative here.
