CWB has partnered with Captain Doug Lombard in providing several significant components of our 2022 Maritime Essentials Series. Captain Lombard is a seasoned 50-Ton USCG Captain and sailing instructor. He co-founded the COHO HO HO Rally and Seminar Series preparing sailors to make “the big left turn” departing the Salish Sea and heading down the west coast and beyond. He’s made the trip south several times, cruised extensively, and is an active charter captain locally and beyond.

PREREQUISITES: None (in most cases)


CWB’s Maritime Essentials Series covers a variety of skills that both sailors and motor boaters might want to know or brush up on. These range from short evening classroom sessions to in-depth on-the-water courses lasting one or more full days. Topics might include: obtaining your Washington Boater Education Card; docking strategies and close quarters maneuvering; transiting the Ballard locks and ship canal; anchoring and mooring strategies; intermediate and advanced First Aid/CPR/AED training; and radio communications, among others.

Halcyon - CWB’s 1948 40’ salmon trawler designed by Bill Gardin and later refit by master shipwright Sam Fry as a comfortable cruising trawler.
